How to Choose the Right Yacht for Your Miami Charter
With over 50 options in our fleet, narrowing down your ideal yacht comes down to three things: group size, occasion, and how far you want to go. Here’s a quick guide to help you decide.
By Group Size
Smaller groups of 2–6 guests are best suited to motor yachts in the 38–50 foot range – intimate, easy to captain, and ideal for day trips or a private sunset cruise. Groups of 6–8 guests typically book yachts in the 55–70 foot class, which offer larger sundecks, full cabins, and onboard amenities like Bluetooth sound systems and water toys. For large events or parties of 10+ guests – our 80–120 foot superyachts and event vessels provide the space and luxury for an unforgettable Miami experience.
By Occasion
Birthday parties and bachelorette celebrations pair well with larger party yachts that include open decks and music setups. Anniversary and romantic occasions call for more intimate vessels – a 45-foot motor yacht with a sunset route around Star Island is a classic choice. Corporate charters and team outings benefit from yachts with climate-controlled interiors and catering capabilities. For something more relaxed, our family yacht experiences are perfectly suited to groups travelling with children.
By Destination
A 4-hour Biscayne Bay cruise works perfectly for first-timers wanting to see Miami’s skyline and celebrity islands. A full-day charter opens up the Florida Keys, Elliot Key, and Bimini in the Bahamas. If you’re planning a multi-day or overnight trip, our captains can arrange custom routes to the Bahamas, Key West, or the Dry Tortugas – explore all multi-day charter options here. Do Miami Yacht Connect charters include a captain?
Yes. Every charter on Miami Yacht Connect includes a licensed, USCG-certified captain and at a minimum one crew member. You never have to navigate or operate the vessel yourself. Our captains know Miami’s waters intimately – from Biscayne Bay sandbars to offshore Bahamas routes. Learn more about what’s covered on our services page.
What is the best time of year to rent a yacht in Miami?
Miami’s peak yachting season runs from November through April when temperatures are mild (70–82°F), humidity is low, and seas are calm – ideal for Bahamas trips and offshore charters. Summer months (May–September) are great for bay cruises and sandbar days, though afternoon thunderstorms are common; morning departures are recommended. Availability is tightest around Art Basel (December), Ultra Music Festival (March), and Memorial Day weekend, so book early. Check availability on our yachts listing page.
Can we bring our own food and drinks on a yacht charter?
Yes, most of our yachts allow you to bring your own food, snacks, and beverages. All charters include a cooler stocked with ice and bottled water. Glass bottles and red wine are discouraged on most vessels due to deck safety. If you’d prefer a fully catered experience with a private chef or bartender, our team can arrange this – see all options on our services page or get in touch.
What types of events can I host on a Miami yacht?
Miami Yacht Connect caters to a wide range of occasions on the water. Popular events include birthday parties, bachelorette parties, bachelor parties, wedding celebrations, anniversary trips, family outings, and corporate events. Every charter can be customised with decorations, catering, entertainment, and water activities to match your occasion perfectly.
How far in advance should I book a Miami yacht rental?
For weekend charters and special occasions, we recommend booking at least 2–3 weeks in advance to secure your preferred vessel. During peak season (November–April) and around major Miami events, popular yachts can book out 4–8 weeks ahead. Last-minute bookings within 48–72 hours are sometimes available on weekdays. Contact us directly for same-week availability.
Can we take a yacht from Miami to the Bahamas?
Absolutely. Bimini in the Bahamas is just 50 nautical miles from Miami, making it a popular full-day or overnight destination. Our captains are fully licensed for international waters and handle all customs clearance documentation. Nassau, the Exumas, and other Bahamian islands are reachable on longer trips. Explore all multi-day and overnight charter options or contact us to plan your custom Bahamas itinerary.
What water toys and activities are available on Miami yacht charters?
Many of our yachts come equipped with or offer access to a range of water activities, including paddleboards, floating water mats, snorkeling gear, and inflatables. Additional equipment can be arranged depending on your itinerary. Visit our dedicated water toys page to see what’s available and how to add activities to your charter package.
